Repair Guide To Help You With Minor Roofing Repairs

Over time, you may encounter minor roofing issues that you will need to handle. You can call a roofing repair company for both minor and major roofing issues, but some of the more minor problems you may be able to handle all on your own, which can save you a lot of money. To help you repair those minor issues, read on for tips to guide you, as well as tips to help you find the problem in the first place.

Overflowing Gutters

If your gutters are overflowing, you may not think this is a concern for your roof, but all of that water sitting at the roof edge is going to eventually cause a leak. This is because the water will eat away at the roofing materials, soaking into your home. The water can then find its way to your ceilings or your walls. If you spot this type of damage in your home, the cause is probably due to your gutters being too full of debris. Clean out your gutters a few times throughout the year to prevent this from occurring. If you did have a leak and you have wall or ceiling damage, hire a professional to make the repairs to these areas and to your roof as well.

Missing Shingles

If you have missing shingles on your roof, you need to replace them immediately. Those missing shingles could have been blown off in a storm, or from rain or hail damage. If you have a lot of missing shingles, you may want to have your entire roof replaced. If you only have one or two missing shingles, you can add new shingle sections. Get up onto your roof carefully and take a closer look at your roof. If you feel soft spots, hire a professional to repair the roof. If there aren't any soft spots, and it is only missing shingles, replace the missing shingles with the new sections. Remove the nails holding the shingles in place above the missing shingles, then lay the new shingle sections in place. Nail them down and then nail the sections above as well.

Missing Granules

Missing granules pose a problem as they aren't going to protect your home properly from rain or snow. If you have a lot of missing granules, notice them laying around your home, or there is a shine to your shingles, it may be time to have a new roof installed. Call a professional to inspect your roof and have it replaced.

Over time, you will encounter minor and possibly even major issues. Call a roofing company, like Liberty Exteriors LLC, to help you with any issues you have with your roof.
